Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine

Acupuncture and Chinese medicine work by balancing the energy known as Qi and blood in the body to restore an optimal equilibrium which promotes the body to heal itself. It treats the person as a whole by treating the relationships between organs and Qi and thus heals both symptoms and most importantly the root underlying cause. Treatment plans will vary from person to person, depending on the depth of the root cause and severity of symptoms, chronic or acute presentation, and the patient’s willingness to heal and make the necessary lifestyle changes. A full Chinese Medicine diagnosis will give your practitioner a great idea of how many session you will require for a return to balance and wellness, along with what specific dietary and lifestyle shifts will potentiate your healing for the long term.

Nutrition and Chinese Dietetics

We have all heard the old saying ‘Let food be thy medicine’ and it’s as true now as its ever been. With an abundance of food options to choose from, so much of our food today is filled with toxic hormones, antibiotics, agents, preservatives and chemicals. As these synthetic products build up over time they can be incredibly detrimental to our health. At Acupuncture Alchemy we take the hard part out of trying to know what is good for you and what is not by developing individualised nutritional strategies (deceptive marketing can makes things so confusing). Our constitution also determines which foods are energetically most nourishing for us and which foods need to be avoided. For example, someone who is always cold, has loose bowels, no appetite and feels constantly exhausted would be wise to avoid frozen drinks, cold water, raw salads. These foods would weaken this persons already fragile condition. We also have very different nutritional needs at different life phases. Pregnancy, postpartum and breastfeeding are vital phases where optimal nutrition is imperative to a mothers and her baby’s health and wellness.

Movement and Lifestyle

It is vital that we have activities in our life that fill us with purpose and nourish our heart and soul. Everyone is unique in this regard to what makes them feel fulfilled.  Together we develop a simple regime which might begin as gentle as a 5 min morning routine that brings a sense of self purpose and self nourishment. Exercise is amazing at moving energy and emotions, especially pent up frustration. A healthy dose of sunshine each day gives us our Vitamin D and can make anyone feel happy! Yoga is phenomenal at quieting the mind, stretching the tension and stress out of our muscles memory and away for good. Meditation has an incredible capacity to still the thoughts and enables us to connect to the part of us that is always calm and always content, daily meditation changes lives! So whether its art, dancing, crosswords, sport, socialising or something else. Introducing a regular dose of whatever it is that sets your soul on fire is vital for a healthy balanced lifestyle.

Esoteric Acupuncture

Esoteric Acupuncture is a specialised form of acupuncture treatment which uses acupuncture points needled in a specific pattern and combination in order to unlock encoding’s of information stored within our bodies, muscles and cells soma (memory). Often a combination of points will be needled creating three dimensional scared geometric patterns. Benefits include deep spiritual insight, realisation and growth in regards to your personal evolution. Often during these treatments patients will say they had insights bubble up into their conscious minds that have surfaced from their deep subconscious. With this kind of work, once a realisation has been brought to the patients conscious mind, any old conditioning or program’s that do not serve the patients optimal growth and evolution can be seen for what they really are and no longer have a subconscious/ reactive grip on the patient. The patient is thus now free to respond to the world more self aware, empowered and mindfully. This style of acupuncture is designed for spiritual development and works amazingly in combination with regular meditation and energy healing. These treatments are recommended for patients who are not suffering from pain or illness in their body or mind and who are healthy physically and mentally and ready to take their spiritual health to higher levels of awareness.

Cupping and Gua Sha

Cupping is an ancient healing technique that involves using specialised cups to create suction and thus a partial vacuum on the patients skin. It is quite relaxing as the practitioner controls the level of suction to suit your comfort whilst also obtaining maximum results. Cupping has great benefits for many systems throughout the body, including stimulating the flow of blood and lymph which can reduce pain, clear away inflammation and swelling and stimulate the immune system. It is great at helping heal respiratory conditions by breaking up sticky phlegm from inside of the lungs, enabling the patient to finally expectorate the phlegm and clear their lungs. It promotes relaxation, helping with anxiety and depression disorders, improves skin health and digestion. The cupping does leave circular bruises on the patients back which can last anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks, the bruises however are not painful.
