Nick and Pops

Nick and Pops were the best of friends!

They lived in a warm watery wonderland.

A big long cord connected them together.

It sent yummy food from Pops to Nick, so they could grow and play. 0001.jpg

‘Where does the food come from,’ Nick asked one day.

‘The great mother,’ Pops said.

‘Where is the great mother?’ Nick asked.

‘She is all around us,’ Pops said.

‘I want to meet her!’ Nick said.

‘Then you must kick and stretch and roll and bump!’ Pops said.

So Nick kicked and stretched and rolled and bumped for months.

But nothing happened.

‘You must also use the hiccups!’ Pops said.

‘What are they?’ Nick asked.

‘If you swallow lots of the water you will get little burps and that will let the great mother know that you want to meet her!’ Pops said.

Nick swallowed a big gulp of water.

‘Hiccup, Hiccup, Hiccup!!’

All of a sudden they felt a warm pressure pushing on them from outside of the warm watery wonderland.

It felt like arrows of love beaming towards them.

‘Your doing great!’ Pops said.

But more months past and still they did not meet the great mother.

Everyday Nick kept practicing his kicking, stretching, rolling, bumping and hiccupping!

‘Its not working,’ Nick said.

‘If you eat lots and lots of extra food, surely then we will meet the great mother,’ Pops said.

So Nick kicked and stretched and rolled and bumped and hiccuped and ate and ate and ate.

Nick grew so big that him and Pops bodies were pressed together everyday in a squishy cuddle.

Suddenly during their sleep both awoke to the strangest sensation of waves surging upwards over the warm watery wonderland.

‘It’s time to meet the great mother,’ Pops said to Nick.

‘Should I kick, stretch, roll, bump, hiccup and eat?’ Nick asked.

‘No,’ said Pops.

‘You must turn, head down, facing the great mothers back, chin to chest and hands on heart! I will follow you.’

The waves and surges over the warm watery wonderland became stronger and stronger.

Surge after surge.

Wave after wave.

Ripple after ripple.

The wonderland pulled up over Nick’s head, shoulders and hips until he could sense a light at the end of a long tunnel.

A mighty surge pushed him downwards and his head came free.

There was glorious brightness all around him.

His body spun and his shoulders, hips and feet came sliding out into a giant cool watery wonderland.

The great mothers gentle hands grasped him strongly and brought him up to her bosom where she looked upon him and cried tears of joy.

The great mother was more beautiful than Nick had ever imagined.

Nick was more beautiful than the great mother had ever imagined.

Pops! Thought Nick suddenly.

He grasped at his cord, it was still there! ‘Phew!’

‘Pops is coming Nick’ the great mother whispered gently.

‘He will follow you in his own natural time.’

Suddenly Pops came out and was next to Nick.

‘Pops, are you okay? You look sick?’ Nick said.

‘I’m dying’ said Pops.

‘It was my life’s purpose to feed you and deliver you to the great mother. I am so happy to see you safe and healthy in her arms,’ Pops said.

‘But where will you go?’ Nick asked with tears pouring down his cheeks.

Like all mammals, the great mother will eat me and I will continue feeding you with every last part of my spirit through the liquid gold that you drink from her bosom. I am you Nick, I am every muscle, bone and blood cell, I live within you Nick, forever and ever. For I couldn’t have existed without you and nor could have you without me, we are one!’

‘I love you more than anything in the universe Pops’ Nick said.

The great mother embraced Nick with all her love as the very last pulse of blood pumped from Pops cord into Nick.

And with that, Pops died.
