Clarence McGhee and my Rose Coloured Lenses

In a most magical land.

Filled with many a varied creature.

Everyone was completely different.

Except for one common feature!

No matter where you’re from.

Who you are.

Or how many friends…

Everyone wore glasses with a unique coloured lens!

There was the always so glamorous looking nit picker Jenny McLean.

She was in fact notoriously mean!

Finding something not quite right with every person she’s seen.

Her glasses were shaded a tinge of lime green!

Then there was poor old Paul from Timbuktu.

He was the saddest old man that I ever knew!

He tried to make himself happy each day with some kind of brew.

But no matter what he tried, he still felt like poo.

He wore great heavy lenses shaded in blue!

I once met a bird named Alex Starlight!!

And boy oh boy that girl was bright!

Everything she did would turn out just right.

She was the kind of gal you could see sparkling at night.

Brilliant Alex Starlight wore shades of glorious white!

I heard of a man that was so angry it said!

That when he spoke to others steam came out of his head!

This man was so venomous that he made people scared!

When he was coming they’d all hide under their bed!

This angry man wore glasses of red!

Then there was me!

My glasses to me seemed normal I suppose!

In everyone I meet, I only see the pro’s!

That means everyone in the land is uniquely special I know!

So my heart is wide open and I refuse to ever close.

My dad tells me that I wear glasses of rose!

It was easy to travel the land and judge the glasses of everyone else!

It was harder of course to pick the shade of lenses of oneself!

This is because we live with the same coloured glasses most days.

So they seem normal to us in so many ways.

But to me something amazing happened, something truly extraordinary!

The day I met a magician named Clarence McGhee.

This Clarence had discovered a secret you see!

He said once upon a time his lenses were the same colour as me!

But he did a magic spell, which he was taught by a bee!

And his glasses vanished, making him from any lenses eternally free!

Now every spectrum of colour he can visibly see!

“What does this mean?” I asked Clarence “about the vision of ordinary beings?”

“Well each coloured lens dictates how all of that persons experience seems!”

“Oh” I said intrigued

“You mean like that story about Jacks magical beans?

They are a waste his mum deems!

But what Jack saw in them becomes the answers to his whole families dreams!”

Clarence clapped his hands “Great analogy” he beams!

“Clarence!” I asked “please tell me what the world looks like to you?”

“Well… with no tinted lenses each moment the world is anew!

And I can see the world simultaneously form EVERYONES point of view!”

“So” I mused, “You can see how they see and also see beyond then…”

“Doesn’t this make you sometimes frustrated with them?

When because of their tinted lenses, YOU they condemn…”

“NO!” Laughed Clarence! “It makes me a teacher of improving vision again!”

He continued his great wisdom.

“For you can’t be frustrated at one who does not understand…

Instead you become responsible by patiently lending them a hand.

Inherent is a magician within each person ready to be free!

A friend waiting deep down to give the magic spell of liberation! Just like my bee!

Sooner or latter everyone will once more the entire spectrum see!”

Then kindly Clarence looked upon me…

“You my dear friend with your lovely shades of rose.

May not believe it but your closer than most!

So today in recognition I offer a celebratory toast!

And I’ll send you some helpful info that will arrive in the post!”

Not so long latter I was filled with joyful elation!

When I opened the post sent from Clarence with such great anticipation…

“Roses are red.

Violets are blue.

All colours of the rainbow dwell within you!

Look not to others as separate beings with different coloured lenses elected.

See them as parts of yourself that possibly you haven’t quite yet accepted!

For each of us has the capacity to wear every coloured lens its been proved!

When we learn certain lessons a coloured lens we forever remove!

Until a moment comes when from all shaded lenses we are set free!

This is the same moment that we learn to just be!

Love forever your dear friend Clarence McGhee!”
